Welcome to the west midlands butterfly Conservation website. Covering Birmingham, the black counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire,west midlands butterfly Conservation is one of 32 regional branches of Butterfly Conservation uk helping to bring butterflies and moths back to britain.


Most of our Summer is spent on recording - Casual Recording using iRecord either from your computer or from your iphone. The main purpose of casual recording is to identify key sites.  

A large number of people are involved in Transect Walking which is our way of monitoring our key sites and to measure population trends.  

Timed counts are a good way to count a single species and to map their exact location.  This is useful for habitat management.
